The One Elm and the Heartlands Leukaemia Trust 07 April 2009
Stratford resident Bob Hewitt was diagnosed with Leukaemia some five years ago. He is now fully recovered but was very impressed with the quality of care and staff at the hospital, he is now looking to raise funds for the Heartlands Leukaemia Trust. The trust is under the leadership of Dr Don Milligan, Clinical Director Haematology and Oncology at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham. The Trust was set up to fund the development of new diagnostic tests and prognostic indicators for patients with lymphoma and myeloma. His Department treats all age groups but has a high proportion of children suffering from Leukaemia, most of whom have successful interventions but unfortunately not all survive. Funding is needed to contribute toward the cost of research projects, equipment and staffing in the research labs.
The One Elm in Guild Street is holding a dinner party on Tuesday 14th April and will also be auctioning paintings from local artists to raise funds for the Trust. The evening will provide an entertaining dining experience with a four-course meal along with experts available to provide information about the cheeses and wines included in the menu.
The cost of the evening will be £30.00 per head including 4 courses and a glass of wine. The auction of paintings from local Stratford artists will take place after guests have taken the main course, along with the cheese tasting. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Heartlands Leukaemia Trust and the One Elm is donating £5 for each guest attending.
To attend the evening, call the One Elm on 01789 404919 or log onto their website at www.oneelmstratford.co.uk
